This project came about as a consequence of my work as (sometime) guest teacher and lecturer at Fotoskolan STHLM. I was there for a conversation with the students on fashion photography and since I asked everyone to shoot something I needed to do the same.
I asked my friend make-up artist Linda Sundqvist to collaborate with me on an idea about throwing pigments and I was very happy when she accepted.
I guess You all have seen the amazing images from the hindu festival Holi were pigments are thrown around -this was our starting point.
We were very fortunate to be able to have two great New Faces from Mika’s in the studio, the stunning Sofia and fresh faced Astrid.
Spring Studio very generously provided us with one of their spacious studios and all the equipment we asked for. Also a very big “Thank You” to Niclas Blyberg at Molanders who made an extra effort to make sure that we had everything we needed in the studio and who also took the time to explain the intricacies of certain lighting systems to the students.
We ended up with a lot of images and video and even a GIF and I put together a Tumblr site with all the material as an "end product"
Now that spring and reasonable temperatures have finally arrived here in Berlin I thought it be approprite to post a short snow video I made one night while #walkingthedog.
This is really just a short, sweet nothing that I happen to like very much.

Stephan Boya “Red, White & Blue”
For their latest “Red, White & Blue” campaign, luxury fashion label Stephan Boya teams up (once again) with fashion photographer Per Zennstrom , starring stunning beauty Michaela Bodenmiller.
Again, Berlin based fashion photographer & filmmaker Per Zennstrom was chosen to direct the video and shoot the stills and is reflecting on the process working with the same client over a longer period of time and what it takes to stay on target.
“For some time now I have been intimately involved with the luxury cashmere fashion label Stephan Boya in regards to their imagery, both when it comes to stills and video. For this season we choose to re-enlist Michaela Bodenmiller, who we had shot a few seasons ago.
As always, for Stephan Boya, the goal was to convey a sense of effortless, urban chic, coupled with a really high energy level. A dear friend of mine once told me that the trick is“always tell the same story, but every time You have to tell it in a different way”Fashion, Film, Photography2013

PAPER - CREATIVITY STARTS HERE
Fashion designer Michael Sontag doesn’t sketch, draw or otherwise put his ideas down on paper before getting to work on his designs. Instead he intuitively and very much hands-on starts draping the fabric directly on his model - like a sculptor working with steel, glass or stone.
It’s his hands that are doing the work, directly manipulating the raw materials. The shapes are born directly from underneath his hands moving over a body and it’s this approach that leads to the fluidity, intimacy and movement of his pieces.
In this collaborative project Hahnemühle Fine Art Paper serves as his raw material. Folding, draping, moulding and ripping the paper he is creating instant and very short lived designs that only live long enough to be recorded on a computer chip in a camera.
It’s a very poetic mix of fashion, performance and semi-scientific research.
DIGITAL - WORK, PROCESS & IMAGINATION
This performance and dance-like piece is documented and digitalized by fashion photographer Per Zennstrom. Even though the resulting sculptural shapes are physical objects consisting of real paper they will only live for an instant, barely enough to be recorded and preserved in digital form before they are gone.
The digital output of Michael Sontags work is then presented on stage at Photokina, in theform of a fashion photo-shooting/performance which in many ways is a digital "reflection" and re-enactment of the first analogue session.
PAPER - THE END
As the process and performance nears the end the resulting images are again migrating back to the original media - paper. Large format prints from the photo shooting will be printed out on printers in plain view of the visitors...Fashion, Film, Photography2012

QVEST Magazine - Shu Uemura / Manga
-a beauty story based on the manga characters by artist Yoshitomo Nara
This story was based on the manga characters by japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara. You'll recognize his drawings of all the "angry children"
During the planning of this story I went through a few different lighting ideas, including a highly retouched and synthetic look, before settling for this clean and simple solution. Basically I just filled a large white room (white floor and ceiling) with light which gives an extremely soft and "clear" look. There are no shadows at all...

Fluorescent tubes and street art mixes with high fashion
This fashion project was revealed on Jan. 19th. during Berlin Fashion Week 2012 and consisted of a multi-projector, site specific video installation, (outside in the streets as well as inside the chic nightclub Tausend) plus a traditional print campaign.
Aiming to merge the label Marcell von Berlin's confident & edgy fashion DNA with the city's unique and gritty street-art sensibility we decided to integrate already-in-place art pieces by Olafur Eliason & JR into our project. The layering our fashion narrative on top of their work resulted in productive clashes of imagery and a unique and very urban texture which suited the labels temperament very well.
Integrating all aspects of this project, such as Print, Digital, Video, Event & Marketing into a cohesive whole, the idea was to offer a tech-savvy and marketing-effective edge to the label which was showing a collection for the first time and demanded something edgy and high-energy.
... an example of this thinking: The promotional event at Bar Tausend was treated more as a street-art installation where we re-cycled imagery and video from the still campaign. Chasing our own tail so to speak...
A "fluorescent cube" was a central element which appeared in every part of this project and offered a visual "red thread" that held everything together. The cube was built with of-the-shelf material from any hardware store and literally held together with tape.
Contains some light nudity, nothing to worry about...

I generally feel a bit nervous when You're given complete creative freedom ie. "You can do whatever You want, but it better be good !"
In this case my only instructions was that the story needed to be about "art & fashion" and Qvest wanted something with my "signature" on it, which of course was very flattering !
I was very fortunate to be able to once again work with some of my favorite creatives and our very openminded and horizontal way of working together seemed to suit this type of project.Fashion, Photography2011
